Connect employees into a workflow

Arrange work in steps. Define what each employee delivers and what the next step needs.

Steps

  1. 01Define the final delivery
  2. 02Arrange handoffs
  3. 03Add human approval
  4. 04Test the complete workflow

01 Define the final delivery first

Describe the final result, then divide the work into steps with clear outputs. Choose a tested employee and task for each step. Avoid assigning the same work twice.

02 Make every handoff explicit

Arrange the steps in the workflow editor, select outputs to pass forward, and supply missing inputs. Start with a short workflow before adding conditions and branches.

03 Add human approval where needed

Mark decisions that require a person. Explain what to review, the available choices and where the workflow goes next. It waits for an authorized person before continuing as configured.

04 Test the complete delivery

Run from start to finish with complete inputs. Check each step’s inputs, output and handoff. If a step fails, read its record, address the cause and use the available recovery option. Version updates apply to new tasks.

Instructional example

Example: from source materials to a brief

Organize materials, compare proposals, get approval, then finish the brief.
Define the output and required inputs for every step.

Test before relying on a workflow

The workflow above is an instructional example. Before using it, check employees, permissions, versions and recovery options, then verify the complete delivery.
