Connect Codex CLI

Sign in to the official Codex CLI, connect it to RunTeams, and check the first delivery with a small task.

Steps

  1. 01Sign in to Codex CLI
  2. 02Add a Codex channel
  3. 03Assign a small task
  4. 04Check connection issues

01 Prepare and sign in to Codex CLI

Install the RunTeams desktop app and the official Codex CLI. Sign in to Codex and confirm your account, subscription and usage are available before connecting. RunTeams plans do not include provider usage.

02 Add a channel in settings

Open Model channels in settings, add Codex, and select the local official CLI. Check account status and choose from the available models and reasoning settings. Resolve any reported issue before checking again.

03 Assign a small task

Select the connected Codex channel for your employee. Provide authorized inputs and clear delivery requirements. Check that the task can read the materials, produces the expected result, and appears in the work records.

04 Resolve connection problems

Install the official CLI if it is missing. Check the provider account if sign-in has expired or usage is exhausted. Review the work error before retrying. After a timeout or unknown outcome, check the task status to avoid duplicate work.

Instructional example

Try a small task after connecting

Read the project notes I provide and list three questions that need clarification. Cite the relevant paragraph for each question. Mark anything the materials do not explain as unresolved.

Execution requirements and native capabilities

The computer, RunTeams and Codex CLI must be available. Models and native extensions depend on that computer’s Codex configuration and actual permissions.
